Kathryn Gibson graduated from middlesex university in 2006 with a jewellery degree, and followed this with a year spent at university as artist in residence. She now lives and works in the swedish countryside; converting an old church into a home and building her workshop in an abandoned barn where she crafts her bespoke Jewellery. Kathryn isn’t content to settle for just a bracelet. Why make a bracelet, when you can in fact make an aesthetically pleasing piece of engineering that invites the eye and teases the fingers?
The art of jewellery and the intimate relationship it has with the wearer is what captures Kathryn's imagination. Addictive, beautifully crafted and unique bespoke jewellery that one can spin, play and make noise with endlessly. Kathryn offers the ultimate satisfaction for people’s inherent need to fiddle whilst always ensuring a tantalizing treat for the eye. Her designs are truly innovative and yet timeless in style, encompassing a broad spectrum of inspirations. You will find geometric forms reminiscent of the bauhaus movement, traveling through to her current focus on more futuristic installations. Ultimately, it is design techniques and engineering that drives her need to push the boundaries of jewellery as an art form.
