Vintage Schiaperelli

Elsa Schiaparelli may have closed her fashion house in 1954, but she was still licensing out her name throughout the 1960s. Schiaparelli produced some styles of shoes during this time featuring glitter details, and these stilettos are a glamorous example of this flair.  

Detail:. Pointed-toe stilettos. Leather sole. Copper-coloured leather insole.  Copper and black glitter circular/honeycomb pattern.

Care: Always use a good quality cobbler.  

Styling tip: These dazzling shoes are for a very special night out, and a little black dress would complement them wonderfully.  Keep it simple, but add a touch more sparkle with a beaded Jean Francois Mimilla necklace made of beads from the 1920s or a huge glittering Nicholas King bangle. Pay homage to Schiaparelli with some shocking pink lipstick and / or stockings!

1960s: Social and economic change gave way to a freer sensibility that was preoccupied with youth and having fun. Curves were straightened and hemlines were shortened - with the iconic 'mini' emerging in the mid 60s.
