Detail: A tailored jacket by Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garcons from 2003. Jet black with luminous orange patch lining. Closure with two buttons. This is a fitted piece, offering a very sleek silhouette. There is a little stretch to the fabric. The jacket essentially emulates to some degree the early Biba boyfriend jacket style of the early 1970s, with a soft sporty twist.

Vintage Junya Watanabe Black Boyfriend Jacket 2003.

Junya Watanabe began his career as a pattern-maker and designer working alongside his mentor Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garcons. He quickly established himself as a talent who pushed the boundaries in conceptual art-fashion; using new techniques in pattern manipulation and innovative use of synthetic materials. Launching his own label in 1992, Junya Watanabe caused a sensation in 1993 when presenting his first collection in Paris. Today, his early works are highly collectable.
