Detail: Exquisite and innovative vintage jacket or blouse by Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garcons from his second collection in 1994. Wonderful contrast of colour and fabric; coral boiled wool versus red transparent chiffon. Intricate and very clever contruction. Three quarter length sleeve (dolman) and nipped in waist. Outstanding craftsmanship and quality. Button fastening to front. Unlined. Rare and very collectable.

Condition: Very Good / Excellent. Several minusclue tears have been darned in the chiffon but do not distract from the aesthetic of the piece.

Junya Watanabe began his career as a pattern-maker and designer working alongside his mentor Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garcons. He quickly established himself as a talent who pushed the boundaries in conceptual art-fashion; using new techniques in pattern manipulation and innovative use of synthetic materials. Launching his own label in 1992, Junya Watanabe caused a sensation in 1993 when presenting his first collection in Paris.
