Adrian designed costumes for the Wizard of Oz, and is generally considered one of the key Hollywood innovators of the 1940s glamour scene.
1950s: Femininity and grace were now predominant in the post-war fashion aesthetic. The glamour of Hollywood also had a profound effect on 50s styling which embraced elegant and sophisticated lines to emphasis sex appeal. (comment on print design that was driven more by product and interior design) The introduction of new and easy-care fabrics encourage fashion innovation that lead to the box cut and semi fitted 'sack' shapes that started to surface at the end of the decade.
